Autumn Vibes

It’s called Autumn Outpost and the pattern is by Megan from @QuiltScouts. This block was made by FPP ( Foundation Paper Piecing). So thank you, Megan! Although, I don’t do FPP, this was a…

Batiks For a Quilt
I recently made a simple pattern quilt with batiks. A layer cake came in handy and the color palette was dramatic and vibrant. The dark blues blended well with the lighter blues and also allowed the green tones to add movement to the pattern.

T’is The Season
Sew, we are way past Christmas but I still want to share this story. Before the holiday rush began I joined a Fort Worth Fabric Store group SAL ( quilt talk for sew along) to complete a Christmas quilt. The SAL was a mystery because each week we were given a task to complete. There…

Favorite Quilting Memory
I have been sewing and quilting for decades. The one memory that stands apart is of my Mom and her sewing machines. I remember that she used her Mom’s vintage Singer treadle sewing machine. I love when Thursday rolls around. The three things for today are in order of what happens now; Gloriana, quilts and groceries. Gloriana is my granddaughter and she is walking towards her 9th birthday in September. She’ll be a 3rd grader when school starts next month. Yes, next month! August 14 will be her first…

Every Quilt Has a Story
Every quilt has to start with some idea or a pattern, sometimes improvised by the quilter. Fabric selection is the “paint” that makes the quilt tell it’s story. The process allows as much time that is needed to cut and prepare the patches that ultimately brings together the blocks that make the quilt. It is…

A Quilt Tells a Story
What strategies do you use to increase comfort in your daily life? For me, answering this question brings to mind that all quilts provide not only comfort but also a measure of pure bliss and peace. Recently, I had the pleasure of creating a quilt with my youngest daughter. Julianne has inherited my Mother’s genetic…
